Included free with every order: The Bedside Kit

A linen storage sleeve that the wedge slips into when you'd rather it weren't out, and a mesh wash bag for the cover. Small things. They came about because they were the two questions we were asked most in the first month.

One wedge, four uses

The 27° geometry that supports pelvic positioning is the same geometry that supports a lower back. That isn't a marketing angle — it's why most of our customers leave it out on the bed rather than putting it away, and why it stops being a thing anyone asks about.

Reading and working in bed

The curve fills the gap at your lower back that a stack of pillows never quite does. Most people notice it first here, not anywhere else.

Legs elevated

Feet up over the wedge after a long day standing. The height is in the range physiotherapists use for elevation, and it holds it without sliding out.

Lumbar support while lying flat

Under the knees or the small of the back, it takes the arch out of a lower spine that's been compressed all day.

Pelvic positioning during intimacy

The wedge holds the 27° tilt so your body isn't doing the muscular holding job. Removing that holding job is what lets a body actually relax into the position instead of bracing through it.

It sits on your bed. It reads as a cushion. What you use it for is your business.

Ninety nights. Then decide.

Use it as often as you like for ninety nights. If nothing has changed, email us and we'll refund the full amount. Keep the wedge. We're not going to make you ship foam across the country to prove a point, and we're not going to ask you to explain yourself.

The questions we actually get

This is the question we're asked most. The framing that works is the true one: this is about the surface, not about either of you. Most partners are relieved — a lot of them have quietly wondered whether they were the reason. The four-page guide included with every order covers the three framings that don't land as criticism.

Like a bolster cushion. It's a wedge in a velvet cover, in one of four neutral colours. It sits on the bed or leans against the headboard. There is nothing on it that identifies what it is.

Plain brown box, no branding on the outside, no product name on the shipping label, no signature required. The sender line reads as a homeware company.

Positioning is mechanical, not hormonal, so the angle does the same thing at any age. What it won't do is address tissue changes — that's a conversation for your doctor, and there are treatments that work well. Those are two separate problems and it's worth knowing which one you're dealing with. The included guide walks through the difference.

It's firm by design — that's the whole point, and it's what a bed pillow gets wrong. But the top layer is softer than the core, so it gives at the surface. Nobody has returned one for firmness.

Ninety nights. If nothing has changed, email us and we'll refund you in full. Keep the wedge.

No, and we won't describe it as one. It's a positioning cushion. It does not treat, cure, or diagnose anything. If you have persistent pain during intimacy, that's worth raising with a doctor or a pelvic floor physical therapist, because there are causes a cushion cannot address.

The four things happening on a flat mattress

ONE

Your pelvis sits flat.

A mattress is a flat plane, so your pelvis is neutral. Nobody chooses that position — it's what the surface gives you.

TWO

Your body becomes the support.

With nothing underneath, your legs, lower back and pelvic floor hold the position. Ten minutes in that's work; twenty minutes in it's discomfort.

THREE

Bracing replaces relaxing.

Tension and arousal use the same muscles in opposite directions. A body holding a position cannot simultaneously let go of one.

FOUR

So you start declining, and you blame yourself.

It becomes easier to say no than to spend the morning aching. And with no mechanical explanation available, the only explanation left is you.

Change the angle at step one and all four change with it.

In the room

A pile of pillows

Reads as a bolster cushion

That's the whole difference. Not a technology, not a discovery — a density rating and a base that doesn't move.

Why the usual advice never fixed it

Most of what gets recommended treats this as a tissue problem. It's usually a positioning problem — and those need different fixes.

Lubricant

Helps with friction, does nothing for the muscular bracing caused by an unsupported pelvis.

Hormone creams

Can help with tissue changes after menopause, but a mechanical positioning problem isn't a hormonal one, so it won't touch this.

Just relax more

Impossible to relax muscles that are actively holding your pelvis in place. Tension and arousal use the same muscles in opposite directions.

Different positions

Changes what's uncomfortable, not why it's uncomfortable. The underlying flat-mattress mechanics stay the same.

None of this is about desire, technique, or how you feel about your partner. It's about what a flat mattress does to a pelvis — and that's the one thing a wedge actually fixes.

Where it goes

Six placements, all in the included guide with a diagram for each and notes on what to change if either of you has a back, hip or knee limitation.

Under the hips

The primary placement. Lifts the pelvis to 27°.

Under the lower back

Supports the lumbar curve when lying flat.

Under the knees

Releases the lower spine.

At the edge of the bed

Brings height to standing level, no bending.

Under the torso, face down

Supports the chest and takes load off the shoulders.

Between the knees, side-lying

Keeps the hips stacked and level.

Positioning wedges aren't new. This one is built for a bed.

Angled positioning supports are a standard tool in pelvic floor physical therapy and in post-surgical positioning. What did not exist was one designed for a mattress: soft enough to sleep beside, firm enough not to compress, quiet enough visually to leave out. That was the whole brief. The 27° figure comes from the range used for pelvic elevation in therapeutic positioning — steep enough to change the tilt, shallow enough that the lower back stays in contact with the mattress. Cheap wedges are built at 40 to 60 degrees because a steeper angle is easier to cut and photographs better. At that angle you trade one holding job for another.

What the first two months tend to look like

NIGHT ONE

You notice you're not holding yourself up.

Not fireworks. The absence of work. Most people describe waiting for their back to complain and it not happening.

WEEK ONE

The calculation stops.

There's a calculation that runs beforehand — how tired am I, how much will I regret this tomorrow. It goes quiet.

WEEK THREE

You're the one suggesting it.

This is the point most of our reviews are written at.

MONTH TWO

It stops being a topic.

Not an event, not a project, not something you're working on. Back to being part of the week.

Why this is getting passed between friends

It's a small change. But both people usually notice.

I want to say this for anyone reading who is where I was. I had decided there was something wrong with me. Not in a dramatic way — just a quiet, settled conclusion I'd stopped questioning. It took one night to find out I'd been wrong the entire time.

My worry was entirely about how he'd take it. I thought it would land as 'you're doing something wrong.' It didn't at all. He said he'd been wondering for years whether he was the reason and had never found a way to ask.

I'll be straight — I thought this was an overpriced pillow and nearly didn't order it. The difference is that it isn't really promising anything. It's a firm wedge that holds an angle. That turned out to be all that was needed.

Honestly I use it more for my back than for anything else, and I did not expect that. It lives on the bed. My daughter stayed over in October, made the bed, moved it to the chair, and said nothing about it because there's nothing to say about it.

What another year of this looks like

Nothing dramatic. That's the honest answer and it's also the problem.

There won't be a fight about it. There won't be a moment where either of you says out loud that this has become a thing. It carries on being the subject neither of you raises, and every month it goes unraised, raising it gets slightly harder.

It costs less than one dinner out. It arrives in three to five days. And it's ninety nights before you have to decide whether you're keeping it.
